William Floyd

Head of US State and Local Government Affairs & Public Policy, Google

 

William Floyd is a public policy professional, issues management strategist and lobbyist with over 30 years experience working in government, private and non-profit sectors.

Currently Mr. Floyd is the director of state and local government affairs and public policy for Google. Overseeing a team of twelve, Mr. Floyd is responsible for managing the company’s local government/regulatory interactions and community relations across the country.

Before joining Google, Mr. Floyd was a member of the law firm of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, where he was a senior advisor in its Government and Regulatory Policy Division, providing strategic counsel and government affairs support for a wide array of clients in the business and non profit sectors.

Prior to his stint at the law firm, Mr. Floyd worked as the Director of Community Affairs for New York and Connecticut for Verizon Communications Inc where he organized Verizon’s response immediately following the 9-11 attacks.

Mr Floyd spent over nine years in New York City government, working at the New York City Economic Development Corporation, the city’s lead agent for economic development, as well as in other City agencies, including the 1989 New York City Charter Revision Commission, and the 2003 NYC Districting Commission.
