Tech:NYC Statement on Delay of International Entrepreneur Rule
As anticipated, the Trump Administration has officially delayed the implementation of the International Entrepreneur Rule, a policy that would have allowed more immigrants to start businesses in the United States. In response, Tech:NYC has offered up the following statement:
"Killing the International Entrepreneur Rule is bad policy and bad economics. This decision by the Trump Administration means that many talented people who’ve worked in the U.S. or gone to school here will have to leave the country if they want to start their own companies. We know their potential—half of the biggest tech startups today were started by immigrants. In an ever more connected world, we should be encouraging visionary geniuses to build the next big thing in the U.S. and create jobs here, not somewhere else."
